Cafe Manga is, essentially, a collection of staff, artists, and manga enthusiasts who are devoted to creating an
online manga magazine. Think of it as Shonen Jump, but online and freely available to any who wish to view it.
Naturally, creating a manga magazine, especially over such a distributed medium as the Internet, is no easy task. We've
divided the process into several stages to ensure that the manga both progresses and maintains its quality.
- Even before the process begins proper, our community of artists, staff, and readers serves as a breeding ground for
future ideas. Communication through the site's message boards as well as other methods plant the seeds for the manga
that will be pruned and nurtured in the following steps.
- At the beginning of the creation process, our organization collects submissions from artists via this website and other sources.
Each work is carefully evaluated and, if it passes our requirements, is passed on to the editing phase.
- The editing phase is necessary to producing quality manga; at this point, spelling and grammar errors as well as more
subtle problems with story continuity, adherence to details, etc. are addressed so that the artist and editor may tackle
them for the final release. Each manga artist is paired with at least one editor dedicated to understanding and effectively
communicating the meaning of the manga as well as dealing with spelling and grammatical errors.
- The now error-free works are worked into a final design in the magazine creation stage. The design staff makes important decisions at this stage,
such as the order of stories, the possibility of including reviews and other content, as well as the final appearance of the magazine as a whole. Once
a finished design has been produced, the head editors review the material and approve it for release.
- Finally, the manga is published on this site and our readers begin the task of digesting this issue in preparation for the next cycle
in the series. Feedback from readers is essential to maintaining quality and entertainment value; the results of our past issues act
as molds for the issues as of yet unpublished.
We, the staff and contributors to Cafe Manga, hope that you enjoy the fruit of our efforts to bring you a quality, free, online manga magazine.
